Drug and Alcohol Rehab in Dubai

Are you seeking help for drug addiction or alcohol dependence but live in Dubai? If you are based in Dubai where there are very strict alcohol and drug laws, it can be very worrying to know who to turn to for help if you are seeking rehab for an addiction. Drinking in public or getting caught in possession of drugs can lead to a hefty fine or even a prison sentence in Dubai, making the seeking of rehab a very sensitive and complicated issue.

Alcohol dependence and abuse is a developing issue in the United Arab Emirates. The National Rehabilitation Centre claims that the country roughly has an alcohol and drug-related death rate of 5.3%. Due to social stigma, there are many people in the UAE who need help for drug and alcohol abuse, but refuse to seek help for fear of capital punishment. Whether you are a born citizen of Dubai or a British expat living in the city, it is important to know that drinking or drug-related issues can happen for a number of reasons to absolutely anyone from any background. You are not alone, and there are institutions that can help.

If you require alcohol or drug rehab treatment in Dubai, we recommend a stay with us at Step One Recovery – a unique world-class rehab facility in Spain’s Costa Brava region.

At Step One Recovery, we can help you get back on your feet and recover from the oppression of drug and alcohol abuse. Our retreat is the finest in world-class luxury, with evidence-based successful rehab programmes that focus on healing and recovery for body and soul. Working together, we can help you to get your mental processes and health back on track. Our life-saving treatments for addiction are based on love, nurturing and compassion, and have proved successful time and again. We have helped so many people come to terms with and beat their addictions.

We promise to always listen carefully, without judgement. We teach all of our clients coping skills that they can take forward as they recover, while giving them the utmost respect and privacy at all times.

We also take the time to speak to and heal your loved ones, as we know that an addiction doesn’t just hurt the person suffering – it can impact on families and relationships, too.

What happens at Step One Recovery rehab?

If you’re in Dubai looking for the utmost in luxury and comfort while you recover from a drug or alcohol addiction, we have everything you need at Step One Recovery. We pride ourselves on treating the ‘whole you’ – this means a holistic approach that is loving and kind; treating the mind, soul and body.

Our state-of-the-art addiction treatment centre in the Spanish sunshine is tailored for patients whose professional obligations, reputation and religious traditions require bespoke addiction treatment solutions that provide total discretion. At our retreat, we will help you to start living life again so that you can return home with a renewed perspective and the tools you need to beat your addiction for good. Relax and recover in a non-clinical, homely and comfortable retreat, with light and airy rooms and luxury amenities at every turn.

Relax in an en-suite private room furnished in neutral, calming colours, with finishing touches such as designer cosmetics, super-soft towels and bath robes. We want your stay with us to be a comfortable and rewarding one. To nourish and help your body recover, you will be given delicious gourmet food that is cooked to order by your own private chef.

There will also be two support workers whom you will work closely with to achieve your goal of sobriety. Daily laundry service and housekeeping comes as standard, and there’s even chauffeur-driven car services too to pick you up from the airport, so that you reach the retreat feeling calm and focused.

Your therapy sessions will vary depending on your needs, but we encourage a variety of methods to help you come to terms with and beat your alcohol or drug addiction. Our rehab therapy involves speech sessions with family, friends and other residents at our centre, as well as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness activities such as yoga, Tai-Chi and exercises involving meditation and mind training.

We also promote down-time for you to rest and recuperate in the swimming pool or gardens, on the sundeck, in the gym or in the cinema. We are always here to support you should you have any questions or concerns about your treatment.

Do I need rehab?

If you are located in Dubai and are considering rehab for drug or alcohol abuse, you may also be thinking about how your body might react to rehab and the potential withdrawal symptoms that may occur. This is natural and understandable, and our team are here to help. You should never try a ‘cold turkey’ detox, as this can be very dangerous and potentially fatal, as your brain becomes used to chemical changes within it that have been created by drugs and/or excessive alcohol. Always detox with the help and support of a team of medical professionals who can offer advice and guidance, and even administer medication if necessary to help withdrawal symptoms.

You may experience withdrawal symptoms such as confusion, mood swings, feeling low and feeling tired. Other side effects from a rehab detox include:

  • Sweating and feeling clammy
  • Sensitivity to temperature
  • Feeling sick
  • Loss of appetite
  • Headaches
  • Tremors/shakes
  • Trouble sleeping

What therapies will I undertake?

At Step One Recovery you will be invited to participate in our counselling and open speech therapy sessions with other patients and with loved ones. We also encourage Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), as well as mindfulness practices like meditation and mind techniques to help you conquer your cravings. If necessary, we can give you anti-depressants, anti-anxiety tablets or sleeping aids that can help ease the effects of withdrawal. You will always be closely monitored and guided to ensure that you feel safe and secure and to prevent relapse when cravings are triggered. We want you to feel as comfortable and safe as possible during your time with us.

What happens after my time at the rehab centre?

You will have a long-term aftercare programme with us, which may involve extra counselling, or more time as an in-patient at our rehab centre in Spain. Rest assured that we will make sure that you are ready to live life again when we sign you off. If you are unsure at any stage of your treatment or if you do not feel ready, we are just at the end of the phone and you can call us for help.
